Many of my clients ask about hiring a trainer. What to look for. Who to trust, etc.
I strongly suggest you make sure the trainer is certified. Look for someone who can assess you as an individual and determine the best fitness plan for your needs.
There are two professional associations I recommend: National Academy of Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine. You can visit each site and search for certified trainers near you.
An example of a credentialed trainer is Dave Barnas, MS, NASM-CPT, owner of True Health Unlimited in Tolland, CT. Dave has a masters in nutrition from University of Connecticut and is certified by the National Association of Sports Medicine. He works privately with clients in his studio. Stay tuned for more information, including fitness and exercise tips, from Dave.
