D. Milton Stokes, PhD, MPH, RD, CDN, is a Registered Dietitian / Nutritionist and owner of One Source Nutrition, LLC. He has over 20 years experience in the areas of food and nutrition as a nutrition counselor and former restaurateur.
Specializing in weight management and eating disorders, Milton’s firm helps individuals and groups overcome barriers to success by offering personalized nutrition assessment and planning. Clients set actionable, attainable goals, and they learn how to transcend the lure of fad dieting and unhealthy weight loss.
In addition, Milton is a former National Media Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) where he’s been featured in Cooking Light, Fitness, Self, Men’s Health, AOL, The Washington Post, Ladies Home Journal, and countless others. He’s also written freelance articles for Environmental Nutrition, Today’s Dietitian, Family Doctor, Men’s Health, WeightWatchers.com, NY Daily News, and others. His book, Flat Belly Diet! for Men (Rodale, 2009) is a New York Times bestseller. His 6th and most recent book, Launching Your Dietetics Career, is available now.
Milton began his career in clinical nutrition at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He has also worked at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center & Trump Nursing Home in Jamaica, Queens; North General Hospital in New York, NY; and St. Barnabas Hospital & Nursing Home in the Bronx. He has served in staff and management positions along the way as well as precepted dietetic interns and students from several area colleges and programs. His PhD is in Communication and Marketing from the University of Connecticut where he specialized in Health Communication. He holds a Masters in Public Health concentrating in Health Education from Hunter College, and his clinical training was conducted at Yale-New Haven Hospital, affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine.
